On Friday, March 20, Black Cat hosts DC Loves Prince: A Benefit for Immigrant Families—an all‑Prince dance party sending love from DC to Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis. We’ll be celebrating the music and the Minneapolis Sound while raising money for immigrant families directly impacted by recent ICE violence.
100% of all ticket sales will be donated to support immigrant families, split between national, and community organizations in Minneapolis and Washington, DC, that provide emergency support to immigrant communities—including help with housing, food, transportation, legal defense, and community‑based healing, and verified mutual‑aid funds supporting families of victims of ICE violence in Minneapolis. The goal is simple: dance together, grieve together, and move resources to people who are living with the fallout of enforcement in both Prince’s city and our own.
Come out, wear something purple, and help turn the dance floor into real support for immigrant communities in Minneapolis and DC.
Beneficiaries (100% of proceeds):
Immigrant Rapid Response Fund (Women’s Foundation of Minnesota) – Emergency support for immigrant families in Minnesota, including housing, food, transportation, health care, legal defense, and community‑based organizing.
Immigrant Defense Project (IDP) – A national organization that fights for justice and human rights for immigrants at the intersection of the immigration and criminal legal systems. It advances impact litigation, policy advocacy, and community defense strategies, and provides training and resources for attorneys, advocates, and communities across the country.
DC Migrant Mutual Aid – Volunteer mutual‑aid network welcoming migrants to DC and helping with housing, food, transportation, and other basic needs.
Ayuda – DC‑area nonprofit offering immigration legal services, case management, and social support for low‑income immigrants and their families.
There will also be opportunities during the event to donate directly to verified GoFundMe campaigns supporting the families of Renée Good and Alex Pretti.
